Job summary

City of Oxnard’s Police Department seeks a Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor with strong leadership to oversee the dispatch team and ensure efficient response to police, fire and medical calls.

The role requires prior public safety dispatch experience and supervisory expertise, with duties including training new hires, system oversight and collaboration with other agencies. A 12‑hour shift schedule and overtime may apply.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of Public Safety Dispatcher experience.
• Preferred experience as a Communications Training Officer.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the full array of Public Safety Dispatcher duties.
• Receives, records and prioritizes call types for law enforcement, fire, medical and other services.
• Dispatches units and monitors status to ensure officer safety and support needs.
• Train and supervise lower-level Dispatchers and participate in training programs.
• Participates in policy development and quality assurance initiatives.
• Maintains dispatch systems and coordinates with outside agencies as needed.

Education

AA/AS degree or 60 semester units
