Phoenix Spirit Group is hiring a Traffic Control Apprentice to manage traffic around construction zones and other disruptions, ensuring safety for workers and the public. You will use signs, paddles, and flags and coordinate with supervisors to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

The role requires a focus on safety, ability to work outdoors in various weather, pass a drug screen, and hold a valid driver's license. No prior traffic control experience is required, training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must pass a drug screen.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Able to stand 8+ hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Team player with clear, courteous communication.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using signs, paddles, or flags.
• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control zones per project requirements and regulations.
• Communicate clearly with drivers to provide guidance and ensure safe traffic flow.
• Monitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate and respond to hazards.
• Coordinate with supervisors and team members using hand signals, radios, or other equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing PPE.
• Warn workers when vehicles do not heed signals.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
