Job summary

iHeartMedia is seeking a skilled Traffic Anchor to keep listeners updated on traffic and weather in the local area. This virtual, part-time position requires delivering timely reports, reading updates on air, and gathering information from multiple sources to ensure accuracy.

You’ll read traffic updates, drafts, and PSAs; edit audio and maintain current content on the station’s site. Strong writing, organization, and a calm, clear on-air voice are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Strong knowledge of local geography, major roadways, mass transit, and traffic patterns.
• Clear, pleasant on-air voice with excellent pronunciation.
• Skilled at working in a fast paced, deadline driven newsroom environment.
• Excellent writing and editing abilities with a strong command of grammar.
• Exceptional attention to detail with consistent follow through.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, accurate traffic and weather information to help commuters plan their drives.
• Deliver minute reports on accidents, delays, and major traffic disruptions.
• Read traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements on air.
• Gather information from multiple intake sources and monitor local, state, and national feeds to determine relevance.
• Research, write, and produce traffic and weather copy for on-air use; edit audio.
• Verify facts and maintain updated content on station websites.
