Job summary

A premier national labor and employment law firm in Portland seeks a Traditional Labor Associate to handle a range of labor matters and develop expertise in collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, and ULP litigation. You will work closely with partners, manage complex cases, and contribute to client success in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of traditional labor law experience.
• Experience with collective bargaining and contract administration, including grievance arbitration.
• Experience defending and prosecuting unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB is preferred.
• Bar admission in Oregon required.
• Excellent academic credentials and strong writing and analytical skills.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with a self-starter mindset and a commitment to exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining and contract administration.
• Handle grievance arbitration proceedings and represent clients before the National Labor Relations Board.
• Draft and respond to discovery, initial pleadings, and dispositive motions.
• Take and defend depositions and argue motions before courts and administrative agencies.
• Collaborate directly with clients to navigate day-to-day labor and employment challenges, including drafting and revising employee handbooks and conducting workplace training.
• Work with multiple partners and manage a diverse caseload under the firm's free-market assignment system.
