Job summary

Topstep is seeking a Trading Platform Software Support Engineer who owns and fixes trader-impacting issues within distributed services. You’ll write production code in C#/.NET and React, reproduce issues locally, and ship permanent fixes while building observability to catch future problems earlier.

You will lead end-to-end investigations, coordinate with SWE, QA, and Cloud Ops, and participate in on-call rotations to stabilize incidents and improve tooling.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of professional software engineering in production systems with end-to-end ownership.
• Fluency in C# / .NET for back-end services and working proficiency in React (TypeScript preferred).
• Strong debugging instincts in distributed systems and ability to conduct end-to-end investigations.
• Foundational SQL knowledge with hands-on development experience.
• Experience with observability or logging stacks (Datadog, Elasticsearch/Kibana).
• Ability to read and triage API logs and HTTP traffic; familiar with Postman.
• Excellent written communication and bias toward shipping fixes.
• Comfortable working in a remote, async Slack-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive escalations from reproduction to resolution with cross-team collaboration.
• Write production code across C#/.NET back-end services and React front-end for quick fixes.
• Scope complex escalations into well-defined tickets for future work.
• Build and maintain internal admin tooling and observability surfaces.
• Lead complex investigations across distributed traces and database state reconstruction.
• Lead post-incident reviews and produce learning-oriented write-ups for the team.
• Identify dashboards, alerts, and runbooks to improve investigations and tooling.
• Collaborate with product, cloud ops, QA, and SWE on root-causes and regression coverage.
