Job summary

Job description

The Tradesworker II maintains the licensure/certification required by county or state to perform work in one of the following areas: electrical, HVAC, or plumbing. The Tradesworker II performs skilled work within his/her licensed/certified discipline, as well as performs a wide range of general and semi-skilled activities, in support of preventative maintenance, general maintenance and repairs on City structures, grounds/beaches, systems and equipment. In completing skilled work, the Tradesworker II may be assisted by and may direct the Tradesworker I.

  • ConstructionIMaintenance. Assists andperformssemiskilled construction and maintenance tasks in connection with the installation,maintenance,andrepairof City structures,equipment,systems,grounds,and beach areas.
  • Performselectrical,carpentry,air-conditioning,plumbingorlocksmithdutiesnotrequiringalicense.
  • Inspections.Performsroutine,repetitiveinspections, ,including electrical,mechanical,plumbing and other equipment fixtures to determinedefectsandneededrepairs,necessary fortheefficientandeffective operation of City structures,equipment and systems
  • FF&E. Assistsand performs semiskilledtasksin connection with the construction,installation,maintenance and relocation offurniture,fixtures and equipment.
  • Performsminorcarpentry,masonryandplumbingrepairs.
  • May perform due diligence in connection with:receiving,storage and distribution of materials,verification againstpurchaseordersandwork orders toensureinternalcontrols and safekeeping of City expenditures and resources.
  • Maintains assigned areasin cleanandorderly conditions. Maintains assigned vehicle,toolsandequipment forthepurpose of ensuring availability in safeoperatingcondition and safeguarding City assets.
  • Transportsa variety oftools,equipment and supplies forthepurpose offensuring theavailability of materials required atjobsite.
  • Inspectproperties andcommunicate withmanagement regardingpropergroundskeepingandgeneralcleanup andmaintenance.
  • Performsgeneralgrounds keepingonadailybasis;inspectsassignedfacilitiesandsurroundingareas,ensures disposal areas are kept clean and in a safe condition.
  • Maintainsaccuraterecordsofwork ordersandpreventativemaintenance schedules.Prepareswrittenmaterials (e.g.repair status, activity logs,etc.)for the purpose of documenting activities and/orconveying information.
  • Mayperformweeklysafetychecksthroughoutthefacilitytoensureasafeandcleanenvironmentforthepatrons of the facility and to eliminate all hazards.
  • Participates in meetings,workshops,trainings,and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/orgathering information required to perform functions.
  • May be called to respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • HighSchoolDiplomaorGeneral EducationDiploma(GED).
  • Two (2) years'experienceas asemi-skilledworkerinone or more ofthe basic buildingmaintenancetrades and/or two years'experiencein awarehouse distribution operation.
  • Two(2)year ofrelatedemploymentinthefacilitymaintenance.
  • A valid certification or valid journeyman rank in one or more of the construction or facilities trades including technician in the field, plumbing (and related fields, i.e. backflow, water control), general mechanical (HVAC, refrigeration), locksmithing, or electrical (technician or apprentice) is required at time of application and must be maintained valid throughout employment period.
