Job Description:

Facilities Operations at Farmingdale State College seeks a Trades Generalist. Qualified candidates should:

• Have the ability to perform journey-level work in maintaining, repairing and installing building electrical systems.
• Be skilled or semi-skilled in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Be able to supervise a group of employees.
• Be able to orally communicate with others for the purpose of exchanging information and to give guidance on operations.
• Have good knowledge of the agency's practices and procedures.

Requirements:

• Four (4) years of satisfactory electrical experience under a journey level electrician which would provide training equivalent to that gained in an apprenticeship program.
• Must be able to understand building blueprints.
• Hands on experience in working with other trades.
• Must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
• Required to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at height on scaffolds and platforms.
• Ability to use the machines, equipment, power tools and materials of a variety of trades.
• Must have a valid NYS Drivers License.
• Must have the ability to read interpret and work from plans, drawings and specifications.
