Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Group One Trading is looking to hire a full-time Trade Support Associate. We are seeking to hire someone who is self-driven and hands-on with strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities. The position will be part of our Trade Support team in our New York office. The Trade Support Associate will work closely with our traders and other departments. We desire a candidate with strong problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills who can collaborate across functional groups.

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000

The focus of this position will be hands‑on support for options traders using our internally developed trading software. This will involve maintaining rigorous oversight of reporting and resolution of real‑time trading and technical issues that occur before and during the trading day. The ideal candidate will aggressively promote and monitor all methods of real‑time communication and customer service to employees at all levels of the company.

Who We Are

We are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. At Group One, we value transparency and collaboration coming from unique perspectives and backgrounds. We hire bright, analytical, and competitive people and train them to be the best in the industry. We strive to create a workplace in which all employees have an opportunity to participate and contribute to the success of the business. A healthy work‑life balance is essential to sustaining our work culture and our overall success. We rely on our employees to spur creativity, enhance problem‑solving, and help us thrive in the high‑pressure trading industry.

What We Do

Group One Trading was founded in San Francisco in 1989, and we've become one of the largest privately held options trading firms in the United States, with brilliant people on our team in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. We continue to expand our presence on exchanges as the options trading space evolves and grows. Armed with expertise developed through a rigorous training program, our traders provide competitive liquidity across a broad range of securities. We manage portfolios of thousands of securities and electronically stream two‑sided quotes across multiple exchanges. Group One is wholly owned by its founders and employees, and all our trading is proprietary, placing both the rewards for our success and managerial oversight directly in our team's hands.

The Skillset

A broad, multi‑platform skill set is what we look for, but there will be plenty of learning opportunities no matter how many of these skills you bring with you. We also encourage applicants with various levels of technical backgrounds to apply. Our ideal Trade Support Associate possesses the following:

  • A college or university degree and/or 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to learn and retain in-depth knowledge of proprietary support tools and trading software
  • Client service experience
  • Well organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-driven, but self‑aware enough to ask for help early and often
  • Highly flexible, champion of change
  • Mentor interns while actively fostering an environment that encourages employee engagement, teamwork, and communication.
  • Monitor and support the lifecycle of equity and options trades from execution through settlement
  • Previous financial industry or options industry experience a plus
  • Verify trade accuracy and investigate discrepancies between internal systems, exchanges, and clearing back office.
  • Support traders with trade allocations, corrections, and position adjustments.
  • Conduct daily P&L and position reconciliations; investigate and explain variances between front‑office execution platforms and back‑office books and records.
  • Escalate production issues affecting trading systems or market connectivity.
  • Assist with corporate actions, option expirations, assignments, and exercises.
  • Partner with technology teams to troubleshoot trading platform issues.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Relevant certifications/licenses are pluses (or willingness to obtain).
What To Expect As a Trade Support Associate

This is an in‑office role to work directly with our technology team & trading staff, in‑person.

Within 1 month,

You will complete your initial firm orientation and build a foundational understanding of our infrastructure, business, and internal system architectures. During this period, you will also begin shadowing the lifecycle of equity and options trades from execution through settlement to learn how our desk operates.

Within 3 months

You will transition into active daily operations by verifying trade accuracy and monitoring systems to proactively identify anomalies. Your responsibilities will expand to include performing routine trade reconciliations, resolving clearing breaks promptly, and assisting traders with standard allocations and position adjustments. As you map exchange connectivity and investigate basic system discrepancies, you will also contribute to documentation updates and ask for help early and often as you encounter new scenarios.

Within 6 months

You will have gained proficiency in troubleshooting complex issues and can provide timely and effective support to all users. Additionally, you will take on a leadership role by mentoring interns, fostering team communication, and identifying key opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
