Job summary

Simplify Asset Management Inc. in Irvine, California, is seeking a self-driven individual for an operational internship. You will support the trade lifecycle and perform reconciliations for equities, fixed income, and derivatives. Ideal candidates are enrolled in a finance or accounting master's program with a strong Excel background. The position offers mentorship and the possibility of full-time employment upon successful completion of the internship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of full-time professional experience required, preferably in finance or operations.
• Experience with financial data, custodial platforms, or trading systems is a plus.
• CFA and/or CPA designation or progress towards obtaining is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end trade lifecycle across equities, fixed income, and derivatives.
• Perform daily reconciliations of positions, cash, and margin and resolve breaks.
• Assist with margin and collateral management for OTC derivatives and financing.

This role offers direct, hands-on exposure to ETF mechanics, derivatives (swaps, futures, options), and institutional counterparty operations within a fast-paced trading environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Support the end-to-end trade lifecycle across equities, fixed income, and derivatives
• Perform daily reconciliations of positions, cash, and margin across custodians and counterparties, and resolve breaks
• Assist with margin and collateral management for OTC derivatives and financing transactions
• Build and enhance Excel-based tools and contribute to process improvements across trading and operations workflows

What You Have:

• Currently enrolled in a Master of Finance, Master of Accounting, or MBA program
• An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of full-time professional experience required (prior experience in finance, operations, or related fields strongly preferred)
• Highly proficient in Excel, including building and maintaining reporting tools and working with large datasets
• Experience working with financial data, custodial platforms, or trading systems is a plus
• CFA and/or CPA designation or progress/interest towards obtaining designation
• Experience with market data providers such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Ycharts, and Morningstar
• Ability to work during U.S. market hours
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
