Trade Deductions Accountant — Fast-Paced CPG

Job summary

Spindrift, a beverage company known for real fruit flavors, seeks a Staff Accountant, Trade Deductions to safeguard financial integrity across Accounting, Sales and Customer Service. You will manage deduction workflows, validate supporting documents, and ensure accurate GL treatment.

You will reconcile monthly accruals and reserves, prepare reports by customer and category, and collaborate with Sales, FP&A, Logistics and Customer Service to resolve complex deductions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting or finance experience in a CPG environment preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience with trade promotions, chargebacks, or accounts receivable.
• Proficient in Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP) and data analysis.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research deduction backups and validate or dispute deductions promptly.
• Classify deductions by type and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Process approved deductions by creating and posting credit memos with audit trails.
• Identify invalid deductions and prepare dispute packages for customers.
• Reconcile monthly accruals and deduction reserves during close.
• Coordinate with Sales, FP&A, Logistics and Customer Service to resolve items.
• Generate deduction reporting by customer, category, and type; support audits.
