Job summary

Thompson Tractor is seeking a Tractor Trailer Driver to transport parts, components, and equipment to customer, vendor, and company locations. You will operate safely under limited supervision and may haul earthmoving equipment, diesel engines, lift trucks, and related items.

Responsibilities include inspections, logging, securing cargo, loading/unloading, and maintaining records. The role requires a valid CDL Class A, high school diploma, and willingness to work day and night through varying

• Experience using personal computers and typing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safe machine operation and daily inspections.
• Document and conduct daily vehicle inspections.
• Maintain truck and driving log per DOT regulations.
• Follow DOT and company safety regulations and procedures.
• Ensure preventive maintenance on truck is performed.
• Load and unload truck cargo.
• Secure cargo properly for transport.
• Prepare cargo documentation including MSDS.
• Follow 5-Star Contamination Control procedures.
• Maintain clean, neat, and orderly truck.
• Keep accurate records of all work.

Description

The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for transporting parts, components, and equipment to and from customer, vendor, and company locations and job sites. Truck Drivers must be able to perform independently under limited supervision. Examples of the types of machinery that the Driver will transport include earthmoving equipment, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and allied products. Drivers will also transport palletized loads, hydraulic cylinders, final drives, undercarriage components and tracks, and other items associated with our business. Tractor Trailer Drivers must be able to safely operate and load all types of equipment and safely operate a lift truck in the loading and unloading of cargo. The person in this role will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Tractor Trailer Driver will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

• Adhere to basic safe machine operation and inspection
• Conduct and document daily vehicle inspections
• Maintain truck and driving log according to DOT Regulations
• Adhere to DOT and Company safety regulations and procedures
• Ensure preventive maintenance on truck is performed as required

• Properly secure truck cargo for transport
• Ensure proper documentation for cargo including MSDS for hazardous materials
