Job summary

Thompson Tractor Company in Pensacola, FL is seeking a Tractor Trailer Driver to transport parts, components, and equipment to customer, vendor, and company locations. You will operate a tractor-trailer, load/unload cargo, and ensure proper documentation while maintaining safety and DOT compliance.

The role requires basic mechanical aptitude, reliability, and commitment to customer service. Prior experience hauling equipment and operating heavy vehicles will be given stronger consideration;

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic computer/typing skills.
  • Experience hauling equipment and operating heavy vehicles preferred.
  • Ability to follow DOT regulations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to basic safe machine operation and inspection.
  • Conduct and document daily vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain truck and driving log according to DOT regulations.
  • Adhere to DOT and company safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance on truck is performed as required.
  • Load and unload truck cargo.
  • Properly secure truck cargo for transport.
  • Ensure proper cargo documentation, including MSDS for hazardous materials.
  • Follow 5-Star Contamination Control procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly truck.
  • Keep accurate records of all work.

The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for transporting parts, components, and equipment to and from customer, vendor, and company locations and job sites. Truck Drivers must be able to perform independently under limited supervision. Examples of the types of machinery that the Driver will transport include earthmoving equipment, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and allied products. Drivers will also transport palletized loads, hydraulic cylinders, final drives, undercarriage components and tracks, and other items associated with our business. Tractor Trailer Drivers must be able to safely operate and load all types of equipment and safely operate a lift truck in the loading and unloading of cargo. The person in this role will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Tractor Trailer Driver will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.
