Job summary

Marten Transport is seeking a maintenance technician to perform quality major and minor in-house repairs on the Reefer fleet, ensuring timely service and compliance with company policies.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and the stamina to work varied shifts. A high school diploma with post-secondary training or two+ years in tractor maintenance is preferred. Marten offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
• Rebuild components and perform preventative maintenance inspections.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.
• Complete repair orders and document labor and parts.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and participate in training.
• Attend company training and apply instructed procedures.
• Return unused parts to parts room and assist with other duties.

Job description

Salary range: $25-$40/hour

PURPOSE:

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment which includes high quality and low cost completed in a timely manner to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
2. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
3. Effectively and efficiently performs preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventive maintenance inspections.
4. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are complied with to meet local, state, and federal standards.
5. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
6. Return all unused parts to the parts room.
7. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
9. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
10. Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
