Job summary

Marten Transport is seeking a dependable maintenance technician to provide in-house repairs for the Reefer fleet. The role requires diagnosing and repairing equipment accurately and efficiently while following all EPA and Safety policies.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and some post-secondary training or experience in tractor maintenance. The job offers full-time hours and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position.
• High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
• Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and ensure timely repair of issues identified.
• Ensure compliance with company, EPA and Safety policies to meet local, state, and federal standards.
• Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, charging labor and parts to the appropriate unit.
• Return unused parts to the parts room.
• Attend all company training classes and apply what is learned.
• Keep the work area clean.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

PURPOSE:

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment which includes high quality and low cost completed in a timely manner to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
2. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
3. Effectively and efficiently performs preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventive maintenance inspections.
4. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are complied with to meet local, state, and federal standards.
5. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
6. Return all unused parts to the parts room.
7. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
9. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
10. Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
