Job summary

Marten Transport is hiring a maintenance technician to service the Reefer fleet in Zionsville, IN. You will diagnose, repair, and rebuild components, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with EPA and safety policies.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, working various shifts and climates, and completing repair orders accurately. A high school education with some post-secondary training or two-plus years in tractor maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in diagnosis and repair to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
• Rebuild components on equipment as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repair identified issues.
• Ensure compliance with EPA and Safety policies for local, state, and federal standards.
• Complete repair orders with accurate labor and parts charged to units.
• Return unused parts to the parts room.
• Attend training classes and demonstrate learned skills.
• Keep the work area clean and safe.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• Other duties as directed by supervision.

Job description

PURPOSE:

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment which includes high quality and low cost completed in a timely manner to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
2. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
3. Effectively and efficiently performs preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventive maintenance inspections.
4. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are complied with to meet local, state, and federal standards.
5. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
6. Return all unused parts to the parts room.
7. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
9. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
10. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
