Job summary

Marten Transport in DeSoto, Texas is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to perform in-house repairs on the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner. This full-time role requires adherence to company policies, EPA regulations, and safety standards while delivering quality workmanship.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing equipment, rebuilding components, performing preventive maintenance, completing repair orders, and keeping the work area clean.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school education with post high school training or two+ years of tractor maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Ability to work across varied shifts in a fleet maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in diagnosing and repairing all equipment with high quality and efficiency.
• Rebuild components on equipment as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and ensure timely repairs.
• Comply with company, EPA and Safety policies to meet standards.
• Complete repair orders accurately, charging labor and parts to the correct unit.
• Return unused parts to the parts room.
• Attend training sessions and demonstrate learned skills.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Take on additional duties and special projects as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Wage: $24.00 to $40.00 per hour~

PURPOSE:

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment which includes high quality and low cost completed in a timely manner to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
2. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
3. Effectively and efficiently performs preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventive maintenance inspections.
4. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are complied with to meet local, state, and federal standards.
5. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
6. Return all unused parts to the parts room.
7. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
9. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
10. Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
