Job summary

Marten Transport, Ltd. seeks an experienced mechanic to perform major and minor in-house repairs on the Reefer fleet in Jurupa Valley, CA. The role emphasizes timely, efficient maintenance while adhering to company policies.

Candidates should have a high school diploma with related training or 2+ years of tractor maintenance experience, plus a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401K and tool/boot allowance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with one year post-high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
• Ability to apply mechanical knowledge to diagnose and repair reefer equipment.
• Demonstrated understanding of safety and EPA policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment, ensuring quality and efficiency to meet cost per mile goals.
• Rebuild components and perform preventative maintenance inspections.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, EPA and safety regulations.
• Complete repair orders and charge labor/parts to the correct unit.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and attend required training.

Job description

PURPOSE:

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment which includes high quality and low cost completed in a timely manner to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
2. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
3. Effectively and efficiently performs preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventive maintenance inspections.
4. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are complied with to meet local, state, and federal standards.
5. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
6. Return all unused parts to the parts room.
7. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
9. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
10. Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
