In this role, you perform a wide range of in-house maintenance and repair tasks from preventative maintenance to complex troubleshooting so that equipment operates reliably and meets all safety and regulatory standards. If you are comfortable turning a wrench, chasing down fault codes, and completing solid PMs, this position offers the opportunity to use your skills in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance services and repairs on Class 8 tractors to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving engines, brakes, electrical systems, suspension components, and other tractor systems.

  • Use diagnostic tools and fault codes to identify issues and determine appropriate repair strategies.

  • Ensure all tractors meet applicable DOT regulations and internal company safety standards before returning to service.

  • Accurately document repair notes, parts used, and services performed in the maintenance system.

  • Communicate effectively with the shop lead and other team members to keep workflow moving and minimize equipment downtime.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work bay, including proper storage and care of tools and equipment.

  • Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working with tools, machinery, and moving equipment.

  • Collaborate with other technicians, parts personnel, and shop leadership to coordinate repairs and prioritize work.

  • Work independently when needed, managing assigned tasks and meeting quality and time expectations.

  • Support trailer repair and service operations in the yard and shop environment as operational needs require.

Essential Skills
  • 612 months of hands‑on maintenance experience preferred, ideally working with diesel engines, tractor or trailer equipment, or similar heavy‑duty vehicles.

  • Ability to perform basic to intermediate mechanical repairs on engines, brakes, electrical systems, suspension, and related components.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, including reading and responding to fault codes.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ownership of a personal set of tools suitable for tractor and trailer maintenance work (tool purchase program available).

  • Basic computer skills for logging work orders, repair notes, and communicating within the maintenance system.

  • Valid drivers license with a clean motor vehicle record (no SR‑22).

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work with hand and power tools for extended periods in a shop and yard environment.

  • Strong attention to safety, including consistent use of personal protective equipment and adherence to shop safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • CDL‑A license is a plus but not required.

  • Experience with diesel engine repair and fabrication work is beneficial.

  • Background in electrical diagnostics and repair on heavy‑duty vehicles is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with DOT compliance standards for tractors and trailers.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative shop team.

  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient work area.

  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities and equipment demands.
