Job summary

The Naval Station Mayport in Florida is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to perform a variety of duties to maintain the grounds around MWR facilities, ensuring safety and cleanliness for patrons and creating aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces.

You will operate a gas and diesel tractor and other equipment, perform routine maintenance, and assess turf conditions to identify improvements. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.

Job description

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Station Mayport, Florida. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties to maintain the grounds around MWR facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness for patrons and create aesthetically pleasing grounds.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

• Ability to adjust and operate a gas and diesel tractor and specialized equipment and to be able to manipulate both tractor and hydraulic controlled equipment simultaneously.
• Knowledge of equipment and correct attachment methods, their power requirements, braking and turning capacities, power ratios and operating speeds.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance to equipment, i.e., oils and grease.
• Ability to recognize changes in turf conditions.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
