Job Summary
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Weeding and cultivating landscape beds; applying mulch, planting grass, flowers, trees, shrubs, pruning and trimming shrubs and trees.
- Removing grass from cracks in sidewalks and pavement, managing irrigation, erosion control, and cleaning turf areas.
- Watering all grass, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds and improving areas as needed.
- Maintaining grounds and road shoulders for the areas specified.
- Removing snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots using shovel and snowblower, and spreading salt on walkways and other areas.
- Mowing, trimming, and edging turf areas using small and large tools and equipment (up to and over 2000 lbs).
- Operating equipment such as mowers, lawn vacuum/blowing devices, rakes, tractors, string trimmers, edgers, backhoes, seeders, disc harrows up to a total weight of 25,000 lbs.
- Removing grass trimming, trash, fallen leaves, and other debris from lawns and paved areas.
- Mulching, weeding, removing thatch, aerating, and trimming around flower beds, walks, pathways, and borders.
- Assisting in the repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment; cleaning comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots.
- Fastening attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers, backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows to the tractor; adjusting equipment, lubricating, and making minor repairs to tractor and attachments.
- Operating gasoline or diesel‑powered tractors (not to exceed 25,000 lbs), gang mowers, chain saws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, and other equipment to move materials, tow trailers, pull objects embedded in the ground, use winch to raise or load heavy material.
- Using chainsaws to safely cut down limbs and trees.
Qualifications
- 1 year of grounds maintenance preferred.
- Physical ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable with reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, and repetitive motion for several hours.
- Ability to climb in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs.
- Perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Requirements
- A valid state driver’s license required and ability to maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Must obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
- Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
- Real‑ID compliant driver’s license, U.S. passport, or military ID for access to federal military installation.
- Union Affiliation: International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 101.
