Job summary

Tessera is seeking a Tractor Operator to maintain landscapes at Fort Riley, Junction City, KS. The role involves planting, pruning, irrigation management, and seasonal snow removal on a full-time, day shift basis.

Typical duties include mowing, edging, and operating tractors and related equipment up to 25,000 lbs, plus assisting with road and building repairs. A valid driver’s license and site access clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year of grounds maintenance preferred.
• Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable with reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, and repetitive motions for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Weeding and cultivating landscape beds; applying mulch, planting grass, flowers, trees, shrubs, pruning and trimming shrubs and trees.
• Removing grass from cracks in sidewalks and pavement, managing irrigation, erosion control, and cleaning turf areas.
• Watering all grass, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds and improving areas as needed.
• Maintaining grounds and road shoulders for the areas specified.
• Removing snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots using shovel and snowblower, and spreading salt on walkways and other areas.
• Mowing, trimming, and edging turf areas using tools and equipment up to 2,000 lbs.
• Operating equipment such as mowers, lawn vacuums, rakes, tractors, string trimmers, edgers, backhoes, seeders, disc harrows up to total weight 25,000 lbs.
• Removing grass trimming, trash, fallen leaves, and other debris from lawns and paved areas.
• Mulching, weeding, removing thatch, aerating, and trimming around flower beds, walks, paths, and borders.
• Assisting in the repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment; cleaning stations, offices, and parking areas.
• Attaching and adjusting tractor attachments; lubricating and minor repairs to tractor and attachments.
• Operating gasoline or diesel tractors (not exceeding 25,000 lbs), gang mowers, chainsaws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, and other equipment.
