Job summary

TRDI is seeking a Tractor Operator to attach and operate vegetation and mower equipment, maintain grounds, and perform basic repairs under a range of schedules. This full-time role requires safety compliance and the ability to work with a team in varied outdoor settings.

The position offers benefits and a schedule that may include weekends and holidays as needed. Prior experience operating industrial tractors and batwing shredders is preferred, and a valid certification to operate airfield

Responsibilities

  • Maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and mowing tasks with batwing mowers.
  • Attach and operate tractor implement attachments and perform basic maintenance.
  • Operate industrial tractors with batwing shredder attachment within airfield area.
  • Use hedge trimmers and spraying tools to maintain shrubs and trees.
  • Plant grass, flowers, and trees and water lawns during dry periods.
  • Use a string trimmer and backpack blower.
  • Adhere to security clearances and Drug Free Workplace policy.
  • Follow OPSEC procedures and GFP requirements.
  • Maintain an Accident Prevention Plan per EM 385-1-1.

Hourly Rate: $20.53

Schedule: Monday - Friday 11:30pm to 8:30am

Full-Time Position

Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Position Summary

The Tractor Operator fastens attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (over 2000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows to tractor, adjusts equipment for proper operation, lubricates and makes minor repairs to tractor and attachments such as tightening bolts, and replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the organization may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property such as buildings, roadsides, airfields, and athletic fields.
  • Minor equipment repairs, performing one or more of the following tasks: cut grass using batwing mowers (more than 2000 lbs.), trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and wells.
  • Fastens attachments such as graders, plows, rollers, mowers (over 2000 lbs.), backhoes, seeders, and disc harrows to tractor, adjusts equipment for proper operation, lubricates and makes minor repairs to tractor and attachments such as tightening bolts, and replacing washers, cotter pins, and screws.
  • Operate industrial grade tractors with batwing shredder attachment within the controlled movement area of an airfield.
  • Uses hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools, prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide.
  • Job duties also include the following: planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, picks up and burns/carts away leaves, paper, or other litter.
  • String trimmer and backpack blower.
  • Pass and maintain any required security clearance requirement and comply with Drug Free Workplace policy.
  • Adheres to Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operations procedures.
  • Adheres to Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property (GFP).
  • Adheres to the safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), Federal, state, and local safety, environmental and health requirements.
  • Maintain a site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certification to operate a vehicle on the airfield.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to effectively work with other team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Detail oriented and basic organizational skills.
Education, Skills And Experience
  • High school education or GED.
  • 1 year relevant work experience operating industrial grade tractors and batwing shredders within a commercial grounds keeping environment.
  • Ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.
