Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking Track Laborers in Orlando, FL to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
2. Install railroad track and embankments, including special track work, road crossings, signage, and rail lubricators.
3. Capable of using hand and power tools and a variety of track machines such as spike pullers, spike drivers, tie adze, hydraulic rail jacks, power wrenches, tie boring machines, rail drills, rail grinders, and rail saws.
4. Operate highway trucks equipped with rail guide wheels, hydraulic booms, and lift gates to remove and replace ties, rails, fasteners, and other track components.
5. Work as part of a crew or independently.
6. Report to a Railroad Track Foreman or Railroad Track Welder as needed.
7. Promote Herzog’s culture and adhere to safety and conduct policies.
8. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.
3. Ability to work under time pressures and handle emergency situations calmly.
4. Good teamwork skills.
5. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
6. Company provides required Personal Protective Equipment and a Boots Allowance.

Pre-Employment Requirements

1. Background check and motor vehicle report review.
2. Pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screening.
3. Completion and maintenance of safety certifications and testing.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Lift up to 50 pounds at certain heights.
• Carry weights up to 16 pounds over distances.
• Push/pull forces up to 25 pounds.
• Operate equipment requiring grasping/squeezing forces up to 40 pounds.
• Climb ladders and on/off equipment regularly.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work a 40-hour week with potential overtime, on-call, and shift work.
• Pass color/vision and hearing tests as required.
