Role Overview

Embark on a fulfilling career in the Engineering Department at BNSF Railway. As part of our Track Maintenance Team, you will construct, inspect, repair tracks, and maintain railway assets and corridors.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) requiring on-call duty, overtime, night shifts, alternate shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Travel to and stay at job sites for extended periods, sometimes days or weeks, in the designated seniority region.

Training is company-paid, including on-the-job and classroom instruction at the BNSF Training Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track maintenance, repair, and installation; involves repairing and rebuilding tracks, maintaining a clean right of way by removing hazards.
  • Maintain trackbed by manually compressing ballast, installing/removing ties, adjusting rails, and lifting/carrying materials.
  • Operate equipment and hand tools, including power tools and manual tools.
  • Work in safety-sensitive environments under diverse weather conditions, on uneven surfaces, around loud noises, fumes, and machinery.

Relocation assistance is not available. A 60-day probationary period applies.

Qualifications
  • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Minimum 18 years old by start date.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to report to work location and work safely in conditions described.
  • Ability to work required shifts/hours and travel as needed.
  • Proficient in English communication.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs, distinguish colors, and perform manual activities.
  • Willingness to climb equipment and work in various physical positions.
  • Follow safety policies and wear PPE.
