Embark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway. Joining our Engineering Department means contributing to our nation's rail infrastructure. As part of our Track Maintenance team, you'll be essential in constructing, inspecting, and repairing tracks and other assets, maintaining railway corridors.

This is a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position that requires on-call, overtime, night shifts, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Travel is required to and at job sites for extended periods, sometimes days or weeks, within the designated seniority region.

Training for this role is company-paid, including on-the-job and classroom sessions at the BNSF Training Center.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Track maintenance, repair, and installation; including rebuilding railroad tracks, pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail, and maintaining a clean right of way by removing hazards.
  • Maintain trackbed, including manually compressing ballast, removing/installing ties, and adjusting rails.
  • Operate equipment and hand tools such as drills, impact wrenches, jacks, saws, grinders, shovels, and picks.
  • Work in a safety-sensitive environment, often in extreme weather conditions, on uneven surfaces, near loud noises, fumes, and machinery.

Relocation assistance is not provided, and there is a 60-day probation period.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • At least 18 years old by the start date.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to report to work location.
  • Ability to work safely in various conditions and shifts.
  • Willingness to travel and stay at job sites for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Color vision and auditory discrimination capabilities.
  • Manual dexterity and physical ability to climb, bend, walk, and sit for long durations.
  • Compliance with safety policies and PPE requirements.
