Job summary

AECOM seeks a Track Engineer to join our transportation team in Chicago, IL. This hybrid role supports transit and rail projects across the Chicago region, collaborating with CTA, Metra, and Amtrak teams.

The engineer will design track layouts, corridor models, and related documentation, coordinating with civil, roadway, and rail systems disciplines to ensure compliant, integrated solutions.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Engineering or equivalent experience plus 4 years in rail/design.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced design work.
• PE license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Experience with MicroStation ORD and Bentley OpenRoads/OpenRail is highly desired.
• Experience on CTA, Metra, Amtrak, BNSF or UPRR projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform track and civil design for rail and transit projects of varying scale and complexity.
• Develop track alignments, corridor models, plans, profiles, cross sections and related design documentation.
• Coordinate track design interfaces with other disciplines (civil, roadway, structural, rail systems).
• Prepare technical specifications, calculations, reports and design documentation.
• Support project delivery through design development, reviews and field coordination.
