Job summary

AECOM seeks a Track Engineer to join the transportation team in Chicago, IL. This hybrid role supports heavy rail, light rail, commuter rail, and freight projects, collaborating with track, civil, and rail systems teams to deliver coordinated designs.

The candidate will develop track alignments, corridor models, and design documentation, contributing to projects for CTA, Metra, Amtrak, and others. Strong CAD skills (MicroStation/ORD, OpenRoads) and a PE license are preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in engineering or related field required.
• PE license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 2 years preferred.
• Master's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience in track alignment design and CAD tools is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform track and civil design for rail and transit projects of varying scale and complexity.
• Develop track alignments, corridor models, plans, profiles, cross sections and related design documentation.
• Coordinate track design interfaces with civil, roadway, structural, architectural and rail systems disciplines.
• Support design reviews and quality control to meet client standards and project requirements.
• Assist project managers and discipline leads with coordination, scope, and delivery activities.
