Job summary

Union Pacific Corporation is seeking an Installation Technician to climb and work on radio towers from 100 to 500 feet, installing and maintaining antenna and transmission systems on our telecommunications network.

You will learn to install major components, meet FMCSA medical qualifications, and obtain a CDL if required; the probationary period may require CDL acquisition and adherence to strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• Formal training equivalent to an associate's degree or higher in electronics or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience with electrical components or electronic equipment.
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A or ability to obtain one during probation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience reading and understanding instructions and technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and FRA safety regulations
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and customers
• Read prints, schematics and technical manuals; basic AC & DC theory, Ohm's law, charging/rectifying systems
• Use a variety of test equipment
• Troubleshoot failures and restore service for RF transceivers
