Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking an Installation Technician to climb and work on radio towers from 100 to 500 feet, installing and maintaining antenna and transmission systems. You will learn to install major telecommunications components in our network while supporting safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a CDL Class A or the ability to obtain one during probation, valid driver’s license, and a background in electronics or related field.

Qualifications

• Formal training equivalent to an associate's degree or higher in electronics or related field, OR 2+ years experience with electrical components or electronic equipment.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or ability to obtain during probation.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy and basic keyboarding skills.
• Experience reading and understanding instructions, operating and safety rules, and federal regulatory documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned
• Ensure compliance with railroad rules and FRA safety regulations
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and customers, handling conflicts
• Read prints, schematics, and technical manuals; basic AC/DC theory, Ohm's law, charging and rectifying systems
• Use a variety of test equipment
• Troubleshoot failures and restore RF transceiver service
