Job summary

Sims Metal seeks a Tower Mill Operator to safely operate and monitor tower mill equipment in our scrap metal recycling operation. The role focuses on maintaining production efficiency and material quality while adhering to safety protocols.

Ideal candidates have experience in heavy industrial environments, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work around heavy machinery. Overtime and weekends may be required, with starting pay at $30.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience in scrap yard or heavy industrial environment preferred.
• Experience operating mills, shredders, crushers, conveyors, or similar processing equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work around heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor tower mill and scrap-processing equipment.
• Monitor conveyors, feeders, and material flow.
• Address jams and equipment issues safely.
• Perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Watch for abnormal noises or vibrations.
• Communicate maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Keep work area clean and safe.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
• Operate loaders, skid steers, or forklifts when trained.
