Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking a capable Equipment Operator to run front-end loaders, forklifts, bobcats, and skid steers as part of our surface scrap operations. You will conduct pre-shift and end-of-shift inspections, perform daily lubrication, fuel checks and general upkeep of machinery and work areas.

Responsibilities include loading trucks and barges, maintaining a clean work site, and contributing to a zero-harm safety culture while following Sims safety rules and golden standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's license.
• Minimum of 12 months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning
• Completes inspection report prior to using equipment
• Safely operate machinery under the direction of the shift supervisor or production manager. Load trucks, pile scrap material, load/unload barges and rail cars
• End of shift clean up and equipment inspection
• Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment
• Sweeps and shovels residual waste from process
• Other duties may be assigned
