Sims Metal in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an experienced Millwright - Shredder Operations to support scrap yard equipment through welding, fabrication, and heavy mechanical maintenance in an outdoor industrial setting.
You will diagnose, repair, align rotating equipment, assist with startup/shutdown, and help maintain safety and compliance while minimizing downtime and keeping production flowing.

The Welder/Fabricator plays a key role in supporting scrap yard operations by performing metal fabrication, repairing heavy equipment, maintaining yard infrastructure, and assisting with the processing of scrap materials. This role requires strong welding skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work safely in an industrial outdoor environment.
NCCER Millwright, AWS D1.1 weld certs, Rigger/Signalperson (NCCCO), Confined Space Entry/Rescue, Forklift/Manlift, LOTO Authorized/Trainer, OSHA 10/30 training
