The Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans, LA, is seeking a part-time Tourism Information Counselor to provide safety and interpretive services in galleries and public areas. You may serve as the initial contact for visitors and groups, maintain knowledge of LSM programs, and assist with educational programs and special events.
One year of related experience is requested; experience can be substituted by college hours.
This is a part-time position located at the State Museum in New Orleans, LA.
Professional work responsibilities include providing basic safety and interpretive services in the galleries and throughout the museum. The incumbent may also serve as the initial point of contact for all visitors and groups to the Louisiana State Museum. The incumbent will need to maintain knowledge of and fluency in all LSM programs and exhibits, be able to adapt to changes in schedule and job requirements, and assist the programming and education staff to implement educational programs, school tours, and special events as efficiently as possible.
The Louisiana State Museum’s collections and educational programs stimulate awareness and appreciation of our state’s rich and diverse history and culture.
One year of experience in tourism information, public relations, customer service, or teaching.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
