Job summary

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group seeks a Swing Technician (Touring) to join the touring theatrical crew. The role supports scene changes, quick changes, and regular maintenance while upholding safety and artistic standards.

Responsibilities include assisting with department tasks across carpentry, electrics, sound, props, and wardrobe, learning backstage deck track, and coordinating with tour management for smooth performances. Flexibility for hours and travel is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical theater across carpentry, electrics, sound, props or wardrobe.
• Deck hand experience in backstage live performances.
• Knowledge of hand tools and some power tools.
• Basic understanding of theatrical terms and directions.
• Ability to navigate crowded backstage areas during load-ins/performances.
• Willingness to work extensive, irregular hours including nights/weekends/holidays.
• Touring experience preferred but not required.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; be able to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist department heads and local crews across carpentry, electrics, sound, props, and wardrobe.
• Maintain the artistic look of the show from performance and operation viewpoints.
• Learn and perform backstage deck track; participate in cue track rotation as directed.
• Troubleshoot show elements during performances.
• Assist with installations of show elements and special projects.
• Train locals in backstage deck track and safety procedures.
• Assist with load-ins and load-outs for venues and tours.
• Support in assembling/disassembling stage sets and equipment.
• Maintain flexible schedule for calls, events, rehearsals, and performances.
• Coordinate with tour management to ensure continuity of operations.
