Job summary

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is seeking a Head Carpenter for its touring theatrical crew. The role oversees the carpentry department, manages grid/trussing work, and maintains the artistic look of the show while ensuring safety and coordination with deck, prop, and wardrobe departments.

The candidate will train local crews, participate in cue tracking, and drive preventative maintenance across all carpentry elements to support smooth performances throughout the tour.

Qualifications

• Experience leading carpentry for live performances or touring shows.
• Ability to train and evaluate assigned staff.
• Fluent in English; able to communicate effectively in a backstage environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee carpentry department and local crews during grid construction and maintenance of hung set elements.
• Ensure the artistic look of the show through stage carpentry decisions during performances.
• Create and maintain cue sheets and show documentation; participate in cue track rotation.
