Job description

Who We Are

Nuro believes self-driving vehicles are the most immediate and profound opportunity for AI to drive positive change in the physical world. Safer streets, more time for what matters, and easier access to the world around us, that’s why we’re building a universal autonomy platform: self-driving for all roads and all rides.

Founded in 2016, Nuro is a physical AI company developing Level 4 autonomous driving technology for a wide range of vehicles, use cases, and markets. Powered by the Nuro Driver™, our universal autonomy platform enables the global mobility ecosystem to deploy autonomy at scale, from robotaxis and logistics fleets to personal vehicles.

With years of real-world deployment experience and a flexible, partner‑led business model, Nuro is working toward a future where millions of autonomous vehicles powered by our technology help make everyday life safer, easier, and more connected.

Nuro has raised over $2B in capital from Uber, NVIDIA, Google, Softbank, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, and other leading investors.

About the Role

Nuro is seeking a talented Total Rewards Manager to shape our compensation and benefits strategy. This role is essential to designing competitive, equitable, and scalable reward programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent in a rapidly evolving industry. You will lead initiatives to create holistic reward systems that align with Nuro’s mission while ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.

About the Work

In this role, you will report to Nuro’s Head of Human Resources and be responsible for a wide range of activities that are crucial to building and scaling a best‑in‑class total rewards program:

  • Design and implement competitive total rewards programs (compensation and benefits) to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and manage salary structures, job leveling, and performance‑based reward systems.
  • Collaborate with HR and company leadership to ensure the rewards strategy aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Lead benchmarking efforts to assess market trends and adjust programs accordingly.
  • Oversee benefits administration and vendor management, ensuring a high‑quality employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Drive communications and education initiatives around compensation and benefits to ensure employee understanding and engagement.
  • Manage the annual compensation review and equity planning process.
About You
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits.
  • Compensation Programs: Proven experience designing and implementing compensation and benefits programs.
  • Regulatory and Compliance: Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements related to compensation and benefits and experience managing equity programs and annual compensation reviews.
  • Compensation Systems: Compensation system experience preferred (i.e., WorkDay, Market Pay, SAP HR).
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making skills, with expertise in Excel or data analysis tools.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to present complex information clearly and can effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams across all levels of the organization.
  • Ownership: You’re a proactive, entrepreneurial self‑starter with a demonstrated history of delivering innovative outcomes.
Bonus Points
  • Experience in the autonomous vehicle or broader mobility sector.
  • Experience in a high‑growth startup.

For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $160,360- $240,540/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply.

  • This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
