Job summary

The University of Indianapolis seeks a Benefits and Compensation Manager to design, implement, and manage compensation, benefits, and payroll programs across the university. This role ensures total rewards remain competitive to attract, engage, and retain employees.

You will lead a team of payroll, benefits, and HRIS professionals, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct market benchmarking, and partner with university leadership to shape salary structures and benefits offerings.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years in compensation, benefits, or payroll management.
  • Experience in not-for-profit or higher education is valuable.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and administer compensation, benefits, and payroll programs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all programs.
  • Lead salary surveys and market benchmarking.
  • Hire and mentor payroll, benefits, and HRIS staff.
  • Collaborate with HR partners and leadership on salary structures.
  • Coordinate with brokers and vendors for benefits offerings.
  • Oversee payroll processing, tax compliance, and record-keeping.
  • Drive total rewards communications and education.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Uphold ethical standards and university policies.
  • Support other duties and special projects.
