Job summary

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP's Los Angeles office is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal specializing in tort defense, including personal injury and property damage cases. You will support attorneys with research, document preparation, discovery, and trial readiness from case inception to mediation and trial.

Candidates should have at least five years of civil litigation experience, expertise in expert retention and medical chronologies, and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of general civil litigation experience required.
• Experience with expert retention and preparing medical chronologies is a must.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Proficiency with internet search and litigation software tools is essential.

Responsibilities

• Continual review and management of case files from inception through mediation/arbitration/trial/settlement.
• Prepare subpoenas compelling depositions and/or document productions.
• Prepare initial discovery: interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions.
• Prepare draft responses to discovery and related privilege logs.
• Prepare attorneys for depositions.
• Research, vet and engage with subject matter experts.
• Monitor deadlines for responses and timeliness.
• Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and trial binders for attorneys.
• Investigate facts including social media as requested by attorneys.
• Trial preparation: notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, subpoenas, and related tasks.
