Job summary

Southern Core Recycling in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Torch Cutter to join our team. This role involves preparing and processing scrap metal using oxy-fuel and plasma cutting equipment and safely operating material-handling equipment to move material before and after cutting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience cutting metal with a torch.
• Ability to safely operate cutting equipment in an industrial environment.
• Strong awareness of surroundings and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate handheld cutting equipment to cut and prepare scrap metal for processing.
• Prepare, size, and clean metal for further processing.
• Safely move and position material before and after cutting.
• Inspect cutting equipment and work areas before beginning work.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures when working with cutting equipment and heavy machinery.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees regarding material preparation and equipment operations.
• Perform basic equipment care and report maintenance or safety concerns to management.
• Assist with other yard and processing duties as assigned.
