Job summary

Lewis Tree Service in Delaware is hiring a Top Trimmer to support utility vegetation management, tree trimming, and line clearance activities for utility companies and other clients. You’ll lead skilled work in elevated environments and coordinate safety on site.

Candidates bring two+ years on tree crews, a safety-focused mindset, and certification readiness; you’ll train crews, enforce ANSI Z133 standards, operate aerial lifts, and help ensure reliable service while upholding our ESOP culture

Qualifications

• Two+ years on tree crews and completion of Top Trimmer qualifications.
• Knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, and pruning techniques.
• Understanding of ANSI Z133 safety requirements and A300 pruning standards.
• Advanced tree ascent/descent with ropes and safety saddle; skilled in aerial lift operations.
• Proficiency in electrical circuit basics and interpreting circuit maps.
• Top Trimmer certification or ability to complete.
• Valid driver’s license, CDL, and medical certification.
• CPR and First Aid certified (provided by Lewis).
• Ability to lead others, communicate effectively, and work independently.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced tree trimming and removal work aloft or with aerial lift equipment.
• Lead job site setup, maintenance, and traffic control.
• Lead tree felling, rigging, and clearance near energized lines.
• Support ground-level pruning and removal; supervise crews in absence of Crew Leader.
• Apply herbicides per laws and company guidelines.
• Inspect and operate tools and heavy equipment.
• Operate, load/unload, and maintain trucks and vehicles.
• Maintain team and public safety through hazard identification and communication.
• Train crew members on climbing, trimming, and safety practices.
• Promote customer relations and obtain property-owner consent.
• Assist with job briefings and safety protocol updates.
• Participate in emergency response and storm work as needed.
