Job summary

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a Computer/Network Engineer to support the Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The role involves evaluating new technologies, testing vulnerabilities, and designing network and video infrastructure within a lab environment.

The ideal candidate has TS/SCI eligibility, extensive Windows/server experience, and strong scripting and communication skills to document procedures for senior State Department managers.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience and a master’s degree in computer science or engineering, or ten years equivalent work experience and a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience configuring, designing, and maintaining Windows servers and testing PC/network software components in a lab.
• Programming software and command line interfaces.
• Setting up patch management and backup solutions.
• Fluency with VMWare, C, C++, Objective C, Java, and various networking protocols.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, OCSP, and bandwidth utilization.
• Experience securing computers, networks, and mobile devices and familiarity with MS Windows apps.
• Willingness to travel OCONUS if required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new technologies and potential security vulnerabilities.
• Assist in planning policies/guidelines for state-of-the-art equipment for State Department resources.
• Test vulnerabilities in software and hardware for networks.
• Work with a laboratory-focused local area network.
• Design and deploy network and video infrastructure cabling.
• Analyze computer and network architectures to optimize performance, security, and testing.
• Document testing procedures, results, and recommendations for senior managers.
