Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software-focused engineer to design and maintain tools for BESS fleet monitoring and operator efficiency. You will build automation, dashboards, and diagnostic utilities for edge computing, Linux servers, and network infrastructure.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering, deployment, and field teams, plus contributing to RCA and post-deployment investigations. Strong Python, Linux, Grafana, and REST API skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field as listed in the requirements.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, automation, systems engineering, observability platforms, or OT environments.
• Proficiency in Python development including scripting, automation, data processing, and app development.
• Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux/Ubuntu.
• Experience developing monitoring, troubleshooting, diagnostic, or observability tools in production.
• Experience with Grafana dashboard creation, data visualization, and alert management.
• Experience with REST APIs, data integrations, and automation frameworks.
• Strong networking fundamentals and system diagnostics knowledge.
• Experience with Git and SDLC best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Preferred: utility-scale BESS, OS7, DAS, industrial networking, OT, Modbus, telemetry, edge computing, cloud monitoring, SQL, and multi-regional operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software tools to improve fleet monitoring, troubleshooting efficiency, and reliability.

• Support root cause analysis through automated diagnostic workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering, deployment, network, controls, product, and field teams.
• Maintain documentation for software, architecture, deployment, and operations.
• Assist with customer escalations and serve as technical resource for hardware issues.
• Interpret electrical schematics and hardware docs.
• Support hardware upgrades, warranty claims, spare parts planning, and lifecycle management.
• Analyze fleet failure trends and drive corrective and preventive actions.

• Build automation to reduce manual troubleshooting and identify hardware failures, software issues, communication faults, and network disruptions


• Collect, process, analyze, and present operational data from fleet systems and monitoring platforms


• Support root cause analysis through automated diagnostic workflows and troubleshooting utilities


• Collaborate with engineering, deployment, network, controls, product, and field service teams


• Maintain software, architecture, deployment, and operational documentation


• Assist with customer escalations and serve as the primary technical resource for complex hardware issues


• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and hardware documentation


• Support hardware upgrades, technical investigations, warranty claims, spare parts planning, and lifecycle management


• Analyze fleet failure trends and drive corrective and preventive actions


• Participate in RCA, lessons learned, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and post-deployment investigations
