Job summary

Kapco Metal Stamping in the Midwest region is seeking a Toolroom Buyer/Planner to coordinate toolroom work, support production schedules, and manage die changes. You will serve as the central link between toolroom, stamping operations, and production planning to ensure tooling resources align with priorities.

The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing, strong tooling knowledge, and experience with ERP/MRP or maintenance management systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years in manufacturing, preferably toolroom, maintenance, or stamping.
• Strong understanding of tooling, dies, or manufacturing workflows.
• Experience with ERP, MRP, or maintenance management systems.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage frequent priority changes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain daily and weekly toolroom schedules for die repairs, PM, and production support tooling requests.
• Prioritize work based on production needs, press downtime risk, and delivery commitments.
• Balance workload across toolroom personnel and machine capacity.
• Adjust schedules quickly in response to breakdowns or changing priorities.
• Act as the primary liaison between toolroom, stamping operations, and production scheduling.
• Communicate job status, timelines, and delays to stakeholders.
• Enter, track, and update tooling work orders in ERP/MRP or maintenance system.
• Maintain records of tooling job status, labor hours, and planned vs actual completion times.
• Identify recurring tooling issues to support continuous improvement.
• Monitor on-time completion of tooling jobs and suggest workflow improvements.
