Job summary

Patriot Machine, Inc. in St. Charles, MO seeks an experienced Journeyman Toolmaker to build, repair, modify and maintain precision tooling and machine components.

The role focuses on reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling, and performing precision machining to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will have formal toolmaking training or apprenticeship, strong shop experience, and the ability to work independently while maintaining quality and safety standards. USA person required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Tool & Die, Toolmaking, Machining, or Machine Shop apprenticeship/training program or equivalent journeyman-level training.
• Demonstrated experience working in a professional machine shop or tool room environment.
• Ability to analyze complex machining requirements and adapt to meet these requirements.
• Must supply their own tools of the trade.
• Applicant must be a U.S. Person.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tools, fixtures, gauges, and machine components.
• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications.
• Perform precision machining and fitting operations to tight tolerances.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
• Measure and inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision inspection equipment.
• Work from limited supervision while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to resolve tooling and manufacturing issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate job status, issues, and completed work.
