Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Tool & Die, Toolmaking, Machining, or equivalent journeyman training.
• Demonstrated experience in a professional machine shop or tool room.
• Ability to analyze complex machining requirements and adapt to meet them.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tools, fixtures, gauges, and machine components.
• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and GD&T specifications.
• Perform precision machining and fitting operations to tight tolerances.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
• Measure and inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision inspection equipment.
• Work from limited supervision while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to resolve tooling and manufacturing issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate job status, issues, and completed work.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Toolmaker with formal training and hands-on experience in a machine shop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, repairing, modifying, and maintaining precision tooling, fixtures, and machine components to exacting specifications.

This position requires strong machining skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and independently complete complex toolmaking projects.
