Job summary

GAMARC Consulting is seeking a Tool Maker in Illinois to plan, construct, and repair tools, jigs, prototypes, and fixtures using manual and CNC machines, blueprints, and CAM resources. You will follow prints and engineering instructions to ensure close tolerances and assist in tooling refinements with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years manual machining.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with manual milling (facing, boring, drilling, tapping).
• Experience with manual lathes (turning, boring, single point threading).
• Experience using precision measuring tools (caliper, micrometer, height gauge, optical comparator).
• Blueprint reading and basic trig/math skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out job assignments and determine machining sequence.
• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines with close tolerances.
• Make tool tryouts, diagnose issues, and recommend modifications.
• Train and instruct lower graded tool makers.
• Work with Engineering and production to refine tooling and prototypes.
• Ensure safety and keep work area clean and orderly.
