Job description

Job Title: Toolmaker

Pay: $36.05/hour

Shift/Hours:

12 hour / 2-2-3 schedule.

Every other weekend off.

Work 15 days per month.

6:45am to 7:15pm OR 6:45pm to 7:15am

What You Get

Your hourly pay will be $36.05 per hour. You will receive 1.5x pay for any time worked over 40 hours a week.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a highly skilled Tool Maker to join our team. This individual will be responsible for building, modifying, and repairing precision molds, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and specialized machines to support production and engineering operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, innovative, and possesses a deep understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes.

How You Will Do It

The primary duties of a Toolmaker include:

  • Manufacture, modify, and repair molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other precision tooling components.

  • Set up and operate a wide range of tool room equipment including mills, lathes, and grinders.

  • Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure high-precision results.

  • Plan and lay out work with efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to extremely tight tolerances.

  • Diagnose and resolve mold deficiencies using advanced troubleshooting techniques and specialized knowledge.

  • Select appropriate materials and apply heat-treating processes based on metallurgical properties and application needs.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and manage inventory of spare parts for molds and tooling.

  • Provide training or guidance to junior technicians or team members when necessary.

  • Support production operations by assisting in areas outside the tool room when needed.

Tools & Equipment Used:

  • Machine shop tools

  • Heliarc and Electric Arc welding equipment

  • Micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges

  • Electrical testing equipment

  • Standard hand tools

What We Look For

  • You must have a high school diploma or a GED

  • Proven experience in precision tool making within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or high-volume production.

  • Proficiency with measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.

  • In-depth understanding of metals, heat treatment processes, and machining techniques.

  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints with a high level of accuracy.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Our components plant located in Florence, Kentucky manufactures and produces battery containers, covers and PowerFrame grids. We opened in 1978 and now employ 150 people and operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and host food and hygiene product drives for local homeless shelters and support Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky and Northern Kentucky Children's Home.
