Build precision multiple cavity tools with direction from Engineering drawings and/or work sketches, timely meeting all critical completion dates in order to produce high quality fine blanking parts at an extreme high stroke rate. Maintain and improve the quality of production pieces through tooling aspects which requires analyzing of quality data and optimization of tooling components. Maintain all tool maintenance journals and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Program HFA Press and optimize existing settings in order to achieve maximum possible stroke rate/parts output per minute. Maintain and improve parts removal and transfer systems that includes knowledge of electric wiring, sensors, valves and pneumatic cylinders. Order and track spare components for all assigned tools. Operate all tool room machines which include CNC surface grinders, manual surface grinders, drill presses, manual lathes, and polishing machines. Assist with the training and development of junior toolmakers and press operators.
Four (4) years’ experience as a toolmaker in fine blanking or metal stamping. Four (4) years of experience in shop math and geometry. Two (2) years’ experience as a toolmaker in lamination stamping. Experience inspecting parts and components using precision gauges. Basic electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic know-how. Ability to run manual tool room machines. Data analysis skills. Knowledge of tooling optimization and concepts. Must have successfully completed a Toolmaker apprenticeship or vocational training program or foreign equivalent as evidenced by certification as a Toolmaker. If the applicant is not certified as a Toolmaker, must have at least two (2) years’ experience working as a Toolmaker at a Fine Blanking or Stamping Company (in addition to four (4) years’ experience working as a Toolmaker at a Fine Blanking or Stamping Company). Minimum travel required to Tennessee location, estimated 5% as needed for tooling and production support.
