LINK Staffing is seeking a Tooling Tech for our North Houston, TX operation. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, repair, and tuning of plastic injection molds, with a Monday–Friday schedule and pay up to $45/hour.

You will read drawings, use precision measuring tools, troubleshoot mold issues, and support mold trials and changes while maintaining accurate repair logs and ensuring safety.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with injection mold maintenance, mold repair, toolmaking, or related technical field.
• Ability to read technical drawings and understand dimensional requirements.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and attention to safety.

Responsabilidades

• Perform preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair and reassemble injection molds.
• Troubleshoot mold and tooling issues affecting production and part quality.
• Repair or replace damaged mold components and inspect mold cavities, cores and related parts.
• Inspect and repair hot runner systems, heaters and thermocouples.
• Read mold drawings and use precision measuring equipment like micrometers and calipers.
• Operate toolroom equipment and assist with mold modifications and engineering changes.
• Complete maintenance documentation and repair history.

Tooling Tech

Location: North Houston, TX Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM Pay: Up to $45/hour, depending on experience Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds.
• Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble injection molds.
• Troubleshoot mold and tooling issues affecting production and part quality.
• Repair or replace damaged and worn mold components.
• Inspect and maintain mold cavities, cores, inserts, slides, lifters, ejector systems, leader pins, and bushings.
• Inspect and repair hot runner systems, heaters, thermocouples, and related components.
• Troubleshoot water lines, fittings, O-rings, seals, and cooling circuits.
• Perform mold spotting, fitting, polishing, bench work, spot‑in work, and welding.
• Support emergency mold repairs to reduce machine downtime.
• Identify recurring tooling problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Read and interpret mold drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.
• Operate appropriate toolroom equipment such as grinders, drill presses, and polishing equipment.
• Assist with mold modifications, engineering changes, new mold trials, and tooling validation.
• Complete preventive maintenance documentation and maintain accurate repair history.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience with injection mold maintenance, mold repair, toolmaking, or a related technical field.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read technical drawings and understand dimensional requirements.
• Experience using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
• Ability to respond quickly to production tooling issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of injection molding tooling repair or mold maintenance experience.
• Experience with multi-cavity injection molds.
• Experience with hot runner systems.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and mechanical mold components.
• Experience with mold polishing and spotting.
• Basic machining experience.
• Experience with preventive maintenance or CMMS systems.
• Experience supporting high-volume injection molding operations.
