Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate CNC and manual mills and lathes for tooling, fixtures, and gauges. Shifts run Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires meticulous measurement with calipers, micrometers, and height gauges and a strong adherence to safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of machining experience or related coursework, plus 3+ years using precision measuring

Qualifications

• High school education or GED equivalent.
• 5+ years of machining experience or courses in mechanical drawing, shop mathematics and machining practices.
• 3+ years of experience with precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, and height gauges) and reading blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual Mills, and Lathes, Jig Bore, grinders, shear, roll, etc.
• Willing to learn basic programming and editing of CNC programs.
• Willing to learn (on the job) TIG and MIG welding, acetylene torch cutting, heat treating.
• Use of hand tools, hammers, grinders, files, punches, measuring devices, etc.
• Assembles new and existing tools and gauges to ensure proper function.
• Performs preventive and routine maintenance to maintain machine performance.
• Performs daily housekeeping tasks to provide a safe, clean and orderly workplace.
• Other duties as assigned.
